Edward Maqwacha Miya is our featured artist (fashion designer) for this quarter.

Edward has been fortunate to have participated in the Ifa Lethu Creative Entrepreneurship training and Mentoring programmes the Ditlabeng Municipality(Clarens) of the Free State Province in 2016-2017.

These projects were funded by the National Arts Council, the Industrial Development Corporation and the National Lotteries Board. According to our trainers, he was an innovator and displayed extraordinary creative skills.

Although he faced many challenges, Edward continued to inspire other youth in Clarens. As a result of the Ifa Lethu Business Development Programme,

Edward developed his own business called the 100 CONCEPT STORE and their in-house brand of clothing called AUTTI, early in 2017. Their jewellery products are created under the MERABE brand.

The store is wholly Black and Youth owned and is located in Clarens.

Their work involves a fusion of traditional and contemporary design and according to Edward "together with my group, we want to make a difference for ourselves, our youth and our country".

Edward has attributed his success to the Ifa Lethu Foundation interventions.
